Dismantling racism requires an understanding of how we got here. So what led to the systemic biases and structural inequities ingrained in U.S. culture and systems - and why are these inequities still around today? Join Steve Brigham, community engagement leader, facilitator and author of It’s Never Been a Level Playing Field, for an exploration of the myths, structures, and beliefs that perpetuate racism in American society. Steve covers a myriad of topics from education to housing, access to justice, and economic opportunity, including more than 3 dozen solutions for redress and repair. [Participants will have the chance to raise questions about racism in their own fields of work.]

Please note that this is for MAFN members only and there is limited space, so please register early.

Steve Brigham has been a community engagement leader for the past 24 years. He consults on, designs, and facilitates complex public meetings and community-building processes on critical public policy issues.  Since 2010, his consulting has focused primarily on local & metro D.C. issues, such as land use policy, affordable housing, transportation, small business anti-displacement, economic development, & public school redistricting all of which intersect with racial equity.
