Duration: 3-Hour In-Person Workshop

About the workshop

Language is a vague, flawed medium for communication.  We can add to understanding by revealing meaning and misunderstanding when everyone draws. In this workshop, we will go through an exercise developed by our Facilitator, Barb Siegel:  Ambiguity Revealed. Hundreds of people have taken this exercise and all have had a big AHA.

During the workshop, we will break down the parts of Ambiguity Revealed. You will learn how to use the exercise and see what more is possible to read. We will also discuss where this exercise can be helpful.

This exercise helps people develop capacity for holding ambiguity and understanding and seeing complexity.  We will explore what is going on in the brain and why the exercise works.

Our question period may allow some discussion of complexity science and tools for learning about it.  All organizations are complex environments. Facilitators who understand how to navigate complexity can help their clients see new ways of working internally and with the rapid pace of change in today's VUCA world.

While learning Ambiguity Revealed, you will also learn 2-3 easy drawing exercises that help invite Right Hemisphere Modality into the room.

COVID Protocols for in-person attendance:

  • We ask that each person attending in-person be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

  • Participants are asked to stay home if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, including runny nose, fever, cough, breathing issues, or gastrointestinal issues.

  • Please also stay home if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, or any variant thereof, or if you have had direct contact with an individual diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID-19 in the past 7 days.

Learning Objectives

  • Drawing by participants is a valuable tool for communication and understanding

  • Everyone can draw and drawing in important meetings is a useful tool for everyone to gain insight into unspoken assumptions

  • Participants will learn two drawing techniques they can use for facilitation

This is a 3-hour in-person workshop. It will take place starting at 10:00am EST.
