About the workshop:

Are you able to recognize and manage microaggressions that emerge from participants while facilitating? And how have you mitigated a microaggression that you may have made, one that’s directed at you, or another colleague? 

In this workshop, you’ll understand the dynamics of microaggressions, the impact of microaggressions, and learn micro-interventions to address the slights, slips, and slurs before, during, or after facilitation sessions. 

Learning Objectives

In this session, participants will learn:

    To state the definition of a microaggression.
    To explain the types of microaggressions.
    To describe how to recognize a microaggression or microaggressive behaviors.
    To share what microinterventions can be used and strategies to respond if you or others make a misstep.

NOTE: This workshop will be recorded for distribution to all who register (breakout rooms will not be recorded).

This is a 3-hour online workshop. It will take place from 12:00pm to 3pm Eastern Time.

Speakers:

 Mariama Boney knows about trailblazing to ‘bridge head and heart’ of 3 million people during her 20+ year career.

 As an award-winning educational administrator, DEIA+A visionary, executive leader, and coach, her content knowledge spans over 100 topics in leadership, DEIA+A, and wellbeing with a world-wide impact that includes 1000+ trainings and programs, 550 projects and consultations with over 800 groups and teams.

With multiple certifications, licensure, and authorized partnerships, as President and CEO of Achieve More LLC, Mariama is a go-to resource for turning goals or problems into solutions and profits while creating safe spaces for transformation.

Rodneikka Scott has a unique combination of nonprofit and for-profit member engagement experience across a breath of scientific, education and medical associations. Most recently, she has served as the Chief Membership & Diversity Programs Officer for the Endocrine Society where she was able to draw on more than 17 years of diverse experience in membership, marketing, communications, volunteer relations, and education sectors to ensure the Society’s member services and diversity programs. She develops innovative membership strategies to produce stronger member value, expand global reach, build brand awareness, and encourage engagement aligned with its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy.

Having a rich history with associations and nonprofits, Rodneikka was the executive director and co-founder of Simply Fit, a nonprofit committed to the mission of cultivating, enriching, and challenging youth from underrepresented groups through participation in sports to foster life and academic skills. She is currently an active member of the American Society Association Executives (ASAE), the Council for Engineering and Scientific Executives, the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) for the Archdiocese of Washington, and service on the Board of Directors for Advocates for Children and Youth.

Rodneikka earned her B.S. in Journalism Public Relations and her Master of Science in Mass Communications with a dual interest in Marketing and Management from Arkansas State University. She holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential and is the recipient of the 2020 Association Technology Stars, 2012 Leadership Academy class from the American Society of Association Executives, and 2021 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate and is the recipient of the 2022 Forty Under 40, Association Forum of Chicagoland award as well as a 2022-2024 ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program awardee.
