Trust is a key element in facilitating group. Three facets of trust contribute to facilitator success. First, trust in yourself supports you as you develop expertise and confidence. It helps you make that mid-course shift we always seem to face. Second, trust in the process provides a safe container for the group. This trust tells the group you know what you’re doing. Third, trust in the group as a whole defines the agreement the group has with you. The group knows they will achieve a satisfactory outcome. This workshop will provide over a dozen specific ways to develop trust in a variety of situations.

Participants will:
  • Understand how important trust is for the facilitator and for the relationship with the group,
  • Define the role of trust as it contributes to an effective facilitated session,
  • Describe ways to support trust in oneself, in the process, and in the group as a whole.

Trust can be difficult to explain and illustrate. However, based on several years of experience as a CPF process manger, I’ve decided that it is a critical element to a successful workshop. I will use examples to demonstrate the importance of trust.

The take away is an understanding of the important of trust as well as ways to develop trust with groups and with oneself, as a facilitator. This workshop is not intended to focus on trust WITHIN a group.
