Our Racial Justice CoP engages in discussion to further our understanding of equality, equity, and justice/liberation and how we might apply each as facilitators both to our work as well as the outcomes reached by the groups we support.

In this session we will define and discuss concepts that are often referred to during conversations about race including equality, equity, and justice, microaggressions, privilege, structural racism, institutional racism, and more. As we learn these terms, we will engage in group discussion to future explore how these concepts impact us as facilitators and what it means to apply them in our work. Participants should expect to learn from others while also sharing their own perspectives as we seek to create a safe space for all to grow.

Please note that this is for MAFN members only and there is limited space, so please register early. Session will not be recorded.

Our guiding principles are:

  • Come open to learning (growth mindset)

  • Not expert led- hosted by peers with space to learn from all

  • Create a brave space to focus on race

  • Share our truth and also listen to others

  • Start with ourselves = focus on the “inner work”

  • Treat others with kindness & honesty

Discussion Hosts: Fatima Argun, Constance Hope, Anne-Claire Frank Seisay, and Mae Cooper
