Join us to discuss the history of the concept of race and how it came to be based on the podcast series Seeing White. This thought provoking podcast series provides a critical exploration into the meaning of whiteness and provides historical context on the political, social, and economic privileges that have been granted to white people. While we encourage listening to the full series, we’ll ground our discussion in Episode 2: How Race was Made  (transcript here) to focus on how the concept of race was created, what it means now,  and the implications that has for us as citizens and facilitators. The session will provide opportunities for small group discussion and learning with your peers.

Please note that this is for MAFN members only and there is limited space, so please register early.

Our guiding principles are:

  • Come open to learning (growth mindset)

  • Not expert led- hosted by peers with space to learn from all

  • Create a brave space to focus on race

  • Share our truth and also listen to others

  • Start with ourselves = focus on the “inner work”

  • Treat others with kindness & honesty
