Approach
Stacey Guenther Doten has more than 18 years of team experience working on and with teams in non-profits, government agencies, and consumer-focused companies. As someone who spent the majority of her career as a team member, Stacey’s passion is working with teams to help them to become healthier, more productive, and more effective.
Stacey has a extensive experience working with a variety of groups of different sizes, make-up, and background and has experience in industries including non-profits and charitable organizations, military, consumer goods brands (such as McDonald’s, Starbucks, Ralston Purina, and Eastman Kodak), advertising/PR agencies, and local, state, and federal government agencies. She is as comfortable with a small group of five as she is with a room of 100.
Stacey is an energetic facilitator who has the ability to tackle issues in real time. She believes an understanding of group dynamics is equally as valuable as facilitation skills and integrates the two in her approach. Through a previous career, Stacey has well-honed project management and event planning skills and brings those skills to her work planning meetings and retreats and working with clients.
Experience
Stacey opened her consultancy, HumanComm, in 2005. That same year, she began working part-time as a team building facilitator at Hemlock Overlook, an outdoor challenge course, working for the Center for Professional Development.
Prior to her career in facilitating and team building, her professional background included employment with four different communications agencies, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Century 21, and the U.S. Army Europe. She worked in two different public relations agencies, and over those five years, she specialized in marketing communications planning and execution for consumer brands such as McDonald’s, the U.S. Postal Service, Wegmans Food Markets, Ralston Purina, Starbucks, Argosy Casinos, and Kodak. She also had a foray at a small consultancy working with government agencies including the Internal Revenue Service and Federal Trade Commission in the area of plain language. One of her favorite positions was managing volunteers and fund raising events for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro St. Louis. Prior to Make-A-Wish, she handled public relations for a regional Century 21 office and was a one-woman operation writing, editing, and publishing a monthly newspaper for an Army community in Germany.
