Linda Barker and her partner, Monica Vergara, give voice to unspoken wisdom in organizations. Linda enjoys liberating knowledge workers from their functional settings and guiding them in tackling business issues of a cross-functional nature. Even with strict constraints, they always come up with uniquely suitable recommendations and are enlivened in the process! Linda is a certified Lead Facilitator of the (GE) Work-OutTM process.

Always experimenting, Linda applies the principles of complexity science to organizational change and is now learning the emerging application of positive deviance, enabling client teams to discover inherently excellent ways of improving how they serve their customers.

Linda and Monica also produce ROI analyses for their clients. They first published a study of the ROI of Executive Coaching (Manchester Review, 2000). Linda later delineated the ROI of Work-OutTM in a global telecommunications company, and the ROI of training in constructive (but difficult) conversations for a local association. Most recently, Linda and Monica have completed a study of the return on small business owners’ investment in the Winning Ways Strategic Business Planning Process—a 42-fold ROI!

Linda has joined MAFN last fall and is reaping the benefits of this rich organization. She is also a member of Plexus Institute and the Chesapeake Bay OD Network. She holds a MA in the Psychology of Learning a Second Language. She got into the field of OD by following her interests.
