"The More the Merrier".. Nuts and Bolts for Facilitating Large Groups
|
Marianne Scippa |
Many facilitators are being asked or "challenged" to do more with less. Budgets, limited time for training and the need to get everyone on the same page are just a few of the reasons to sharpen our skills with larger groups. For others it may be to stretch beyond the small group facilitation process where they are in their comfort zone.
This workshop is about increasing our skill and comfort level for working with large groups. From 50 to 1000 or beyond, what are the key steps to assess, plan and deliver a dynamic and effective program. Beyond the get to know you and fun, explore ways to adapt and create the process so your clients integrate new ideas, plan for change or learn a new skill.
This will be an opportunity to reflect on the steps for assessing, planning and delivering a large group program. We will experience activities designed or adapted for large groups and discuss the logistics and resources for making it happen even on a tight budget.

Facilitating Results from High Performance Teams
|
Jackie Parker |
Resolution of any significant business problem within a large organization requires the cooperation of a cross-functional, or high-performance, team. As facilitator, you can improve team dynamics but the ultimate goal (and that of the executive sponsor) is to generate resolution of a business problem.
Attend this workshop to better understand the formal mechanics of a high performance team (HPT) including the positive use of red flags and the pitfalls of rewards. Learn to uncover executive expectations and how to facilitate the rapid creation of a business solution, project plan, and budget. Realize the benefits, when working with a jaded corporate group, of overtly focusing on the business problem and covertly tackling team dynamics. Blend your facilitation techniques with the problem-solving skills of project management and business analysis professionals. Practice new skills via role-playing of real life HPT scenarios.

What Hat To Wear? -- How Facilitators use Mediation to Resolve Group Disputes
|
Andy Pizzi |
This workshop explores the issues and approaches to resolving group disputes and the roles that a facilitator can take in the process. Mediation is a process that has similar roots to Facilitation and, in many cases, may be the only process that will get a group in dispute past the issues that is preventing their success.
Facilitators are faced with disagreement and conflict regularly. Because different people are involved and the situations can vary significantly a one strategy approach to working through the issues is not always the best approach. Facilitators need to be able to shift their conflict hats to deal with different situations. A clear understanding of the mediation process is one of those hats that facilitators should have hanging in their closets.
In this interactive session, a facilitator who is also a certified mediator will discuss situations where group facilitators will use mediation skills/techniques to assist the group.
