Have you ever sat through a boring webinar with a talking head and PowerPoint slides? Did you find yourself checking email or Facebook rather than listening?  If you want to share your ideas and hear what other facilitators have done to make facilitated online workshops interactive and engaging, this is the workshop for you!

During this interactive workshop, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify the challenges and opportunities posed by an online environment.
  • Understand the things that must be addressed during workshop design and planning to enable the event to be an interactive online workshop rather than a boring webinar.
  • Explore strategies for engaging participants before the workshop to set expectations and begin the interaction prior to workshop itself.
  • Develop/learn strategies and techniques to keep participants from getting bored, multi-tasking and disengaging during the workshop.
  • Develop/learn strategies and techniques to enable dialog, gather input, obtain feedback, evaluate information and make decisions during an online workshop.
  • Explore strategies for continuing to engage participants after the online session.

This workshop will not focus on the tools and technologies used for online events. Instead we will explore how the facilitator can design the session to take advantage of tool features and overcome technology limitations to provide a great experience for participants and achieve the workshop objectives. You will leave with a simple framework for designing the online experience to grab participants and keep them engaged throughout the workshop.
