Lean Six Sigma is a comprehensive and flexible improvement methodology for the rapid achievement, maximization, and sustainment of business success. Its primary focus is the reduction of variation and non-value added effort by:
identifying and eliminating waste, rework, and scrap;
identifying and eliminating defects;
creating increased process consistency and stability; and
moving processes on target.
When implemented properly, Lean Six Sigma results in a permanent change in an organization’s business culture to one that values:
its customers;
data-driven and fact-based decisions;
alignment between strategy, processes, and resources;
an empowered workforce; and
continuous learning and improvement.
Because Lean Six Sigma changes the business culture, it is difficult for organizations to implement without the help of experienced, external consultants and facilitators. This workshop will provide an executive overview of the Lean Six Sigma philosophy and approach including what Lean, Six Sigma, and Lean Six Sigma are; the typical roles and responsibilities of people in an organization implementing Lean Six Sigma; an enterprise implementation model; and the DMAIC process improvement model. Throughout the workshop, the appropriate role of facilitators and facilitation methods will be discussed, including several participant exercises.
