During this session, we will review the components of a strategic plan. The first step is to know where to start the process. Some companies and organizations may begin with their current state and others may start with their future vision. We will look at the impact the starting position has in developing the plan.

In order to move an organization through the strategic planning process, the use of a variety of facilitation methodologies is necessary. Do you know the best methodologies? How do you choose the most appropriate? Can you keep the participants fully engaged during the process? These, and other questions you may have, will be addressed during this session. Additionally, you will get to model some of the key methodologies and add more tools to your toolbox.

Gloria B. Trope has over 30 years experience working primarily in the governmental and non-profit sectors. Some of her experience includes: finance, process improvement, facilitation, organizational development, and strategic management. Gloria’s current position as Sr. Strategic Management Advisor for the eighth largest water-wastewater utility in the U.S. involves working to affect cultural change within the organization through the use of various facilitation methodologies while developing and implementing the organization’s strategic plan.

Gloria’s facilitation ranges from small (6-8 people) to large (up to 200 people) groups. Her special interest is in facilitating cross-functional teams as a way of affecting cultural change within an organization. As a member of the IAF, she served on the host committee for the International Association of Facilitators 2005 national conference that was held in Florida. Gloria holds an MBA degree from Cleveland State University in Ohio and a Strategic Management Gold Mastery Certificate from the University of San Diego.
